Crianças e Jovens com Paralisia Cerebral: A Qualidade de Vida dos Cuidadores Familiares
Keywords:

Children and Youths With Cerebral Palsy:
The Quality of Life of Family Carers
In a sample of 61 family carers (FC) of children and youths with cerebral palsy (CP), these carers, in comparison to a control group of family carers of healthy children, display higher levels in almost all scales of distress, showing a perceived higher level of emotional strain, concerning the tasks of caring and its resources. However, the scale of personal growth presents, in a significant way, positive higher results in family carers of CP children and youths. The challenge here is the development and planning of interventions at the formative, informative and clinical levels, oriented to carers and the family context in order to promote psychological adaptation to the realities of cerebral palsy and, consequently, better conditions of quality of life (QL) in physical, mental and social terms.
