Conflictos en Torno al Cuidado de Ancianos en los Medios de Comunicación: Un Estudio de Caso de un Documental Televisivo Sueco y las Reacciones al Mismo en el Discurso Público

La opinión pública sobre la organización del bienestar y el cuidado de ancianos, son temas que se han estudiado principalmente como expresiones de actitudes individuales o ideologías en conflicto. Por el contrario, y partiendo de la comprensión sobre la importancia del contexto y la retórica social, este estudio explora un evento mediático a través de un documental televisivo sueco sobre problemas en el cuidado de ancianos y las reacciones al mismo, que fueron publicadas en los medios periodísticos impresos. El estudio parte de una perspectiva psicológica discursiva y se centra en lo que se da por aceptado con respecto a cómo debe ser organizado el cuidado de ancianos, y qué conflictos son relacionados en los diferentes artículos académicos y en artículos de opinión que fueron publicados durante el mes siguiente a la emisión.
El estudio también muestra como el cuidado de ancianos no es un tema singular, sino que siempre está interconectado con temas como la ciudadanía, la identidad, la migración y la legitimidad del sistema político y legal. Se constató que el derecho al cuidado formal de ancianos se articulaba en gran medida como un derecho en virtud de la ciudadanía.
