  1. Conflict of Interest Policy

The journal Interações: Sociedade e Novas Modernidades requires full transparency regarding potential conflicts of interest. A conflict of interest may arise when authors, reviewers, or editors have personal, professional, financial, or institutional relationships that may influence, or appear to influence, the interpretation, analysis, or presentation of results.

Authors’ conflicts of interest

Authors must declare:

  • Relevant financial relationships (e.g. funding, sponsorships, grants, remuneration, consultancy).
  • Institutional or professional relationships that may influence the research.
  • Personal or academic relationships with other researchers involved in the work.
  • Affiliations that may create real or perceived bias.

The absence of conflicts must also be explicitly declared.

Reviewers’ conflicts of interest

Reviewers must refuse to evaluate a manuscript when there is:

  • A close personal or academic relationship with the authors.
  • Direct competition in the relevant scientific field.
  • A financial interest that may be affected by the results.
  • A shared institutional affiliation that compromises impartiality.

By accepting the review, the reviewer declares that no relevant conflicts exist.

Editors’ conflicts of interest

Editors and members of the Editorial Board must:

  • Refrain from making decisions on manuscripts in which they are authors, co-authors, supervisors, close colleagues, or where relationships exist that compromise impartiality.
  • Transfer editorial management to another independent editor in case of conflict.
  • Declare annually any potential conflicts that may affect editorial decision-making.
