Ethnic Entrepreneurship and the Implications of the Pandemic for Venezuelan Immigrants
This research aims to identify the impacts related to the attempt to start businesses by Venezuelan immigrants in Boa Vista, Roraima, and the implications of the pandemic on these businesses. The study was conducted through qualitative research involving eight Venezuelan refugees, including both men and women, all of whom are entrepreneurs operating in the food sector. In this study, the technique known as snowball was used to select research participants. As a result, while investigating the experiences of immigrants, results were found that revealed various factors influencing their way of life along each journey, such as financial conditions, family relationships, contact networks, and social context. Consequently, the following categories of analysis were identified in the research involving refugee entrepreneurs: ideation, challenges, development, and future prospects. This study contributes to a better understanding of the dynamics of ethnic entrepreneurship, particularly by reflecting the reality of individuals operating in this niche market.
