Death drive, one of most controversial concepts in Freud’s psychoanalytical theory, does not mean death as the end of life, but the will to destroy the plea- sure in life, representing, simultaneously, self-destruction and the destruction of others. It is in this sense that evil, as that which leads us to negate the possibilities of life, equates with the death drive. Evil is in itself a drive, but the death drive and the evil drive are not the one and the same thing, considering evil as the destructive force that feeds the death drive towards oneself and others. is implies taking into account that death driven by evil is individual, but it can equally be the energy of an entire society, which, at a given point, drags other societies and countries into its own death.
