O Papel do Capital Social nos Sistemas Regionais de Inovação

Abstract

Neste artigo, o autor defende a ideia que a utili­zação do conceito capital social nos estudos de inovação e, em particular, na abordagem dos Sistemas Regionais de Inovação, justifica-se pela importância crescente da interactividade na actividade inovadora das regiões. No en­tanto, a incorporação do conceito nas políticas públicas não está isenta de problemas e muitos deles resultam das próprias dificuldades da teo­ria. Assim, são recenseadas algumas das ques­tões que terão que ser resolvidas nos estudos do capital social e que, como tal, deverão fazer parte de uma agenda de investigação futura.

Summary

The Role of the Social Capital in the Regional Innovation Systems

The use of the concept of social capital in inno­vation studies and, particularly, in the approach of Regional Systems of Innovation, is justified by the growing importance that interactivi­ty have in the innovative activities of regions. However, the incorporation of the concept in public policies is not exempt from problems and many of them result from difficulties of the theory in itself. The article points out some of the issues that must be solved in the studies of social capital and inscribed as a necessary part in a future research agenda.
