Espaço Público, Argumentação e Retórica

Abstract

Este artigo parte da noção de espaço público, com o propósito de discutir o estatuto que a linguagem e outras formas de mediação assumem na construção de um espaço público na democracia. A atenção crítica é orientada para as noções comunicacionais cobertas pela retórica e teoria da argumentação, demonstrando a articulação destes conceitos e práticas da linguagem com as teorias sobre o espaço público desenvolvidas por Hannah Arendt e Jürgen Habermas.

Public Space, Argument and Rhetoric

This article starts from the notion of public space, with the purpose of discussing the status that language and other ways of mediation take in the construction of a public space in democracy. Critical attention is oriented towards the communicational notions covered by the theory and rhetoric of argumentation, showing the articulation of those concepts and practices of language with the theories on public space developed by Hannah Arendt and Jürgen Habermas.
