Scope, mission and editorial status

Interações: Sociedade e as novas modernidades is an open-access scholarly journal, published semiannually by the Instituto Superior Miguel Torga, dedicated to disseminating original scientific research, both empirical and theoretical, as well as academic reflection in the field of the Social Sciences and Humanities.

The journal welcomes contributions that promote dialogue among different theoretical, methodological and empirical perspectives, with particular attention to contemporary social transformations, institutional dynamics and new modernities.

Its scientific scope includes, among others, areas such as sociology, social work, psychology, management, economics, political science, education and related fields, valuing critical, comparative and contextualised approaches.

The mission of Interações is to contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge in the Social Sciences and Humanities by providing a forum for the dissemination of research and academic debate on contemporary social dynamics, open to submissions from national and international researchers.

The journal adopts a diamond open access policy, charges no fees to authors or readers, and is governed by principles of academic integrity, editorial independence and scientific transparency.

Types of manuscripts

Interações: Sociedade e as novas modernidades publishes the following types of manuscripts:

  • Scientific research articles based on original empirical or theoretical research;
  • Theoretical essays that contribute to conceptual and critical development within the journal’s scope.
  • Occasionally, the journal may also include critical book reviews, provided they are relevant to its scientific and editorial scope. The inclusion of such contributions depends on the editorial orientation of each issue and the decision of the journal’s director and editor-in-chief.

Manuscripts may be submitted in Portuguese (European and Brazilian variants), English or Spanish.
